Fruit and Dessert Salad includes two types of salad, Fruit Salad and Dessert Salad. Both types of dish have fruit and/or berries as a base ingredient. While both can be served as dessert, fruit salad is characterized by being fresher, less processed dish.

Countless variety of fruit salad is made by simply combining fresh berries and peeled cubed fruit. The salad can be dressed in syrup, sour cream, or yoghurt.

Dessert salad is oftentimes a mix of fruit with sweeteners, chocolate, or whipped cream. Jelly with fruit is clearly distinguished as dessert salad.

Preparation of Dessert Salad

Fruit salad typically involves a simple procedure of tossing fruit together. Meanwhile, dessert salad, especially making of whipped cream, hot chocolate, and jellies, is somewhat more complex in preparation and needed kitchen equipment.

Whipped cream is prepared by beating cream with a mixer or a whisk until peaks begin to form upon removing a whisk. Sweeteners can be added before or after beating.

Hot chocolate is generally a chocolate bar melted in heat. Hot chocolate is prepared in a double boiler. The double boiling technique ensures constant temperature and prevents burning.

Jelly is prepared by dissolving gelatin in hot water and cooling in a refrigerator. Package instructions provide detailed procedure of making jelly. Importantly, water proportion should be followed and gelatin should be dissolved entirely.
